Summary
Lawmed were looking for a trusted partner to assist in their carbon reporting requirements for NHS tenders and frameworks. Lawmed chose C Free as their partner and have been working with us for two years to ensure they meet all of their carbon reporting requirements.
In the first year, we started by measuring the required emissions for a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP). This initial assessment was a reduced set of scope 3 emissions.
In year two, Lawmed's appetite for measuring and reducing emissions had grown and upcoming regulations stated that a wider scope of emissions should be included by 2027. Lawmed therefore decided to complete a more comprehensive full scope 3 calculation.
C Free's scope 3 measurement tools enabled a seamless transition to widening the scope of emissions calculations to include all scope 3 emissions well before the 2027 deadline set by the NHS.
We assisted Lawmed in calculating their carbon footprint, drafting their CRP with action points informed by data, and assisting with their Evergreen Assessment.
Challenge
Lawmed faced a significant challenge in meeting the NHS framework’s stringent sustainability criteria. With the growing emphasis on reducing carbon emissions across the healthcare supply chain, they needed an accurate and reliable assessment of their carbon footprint, along with a strategic plan to reduce it. Additionally, the completion of the Evergreen Assessment, a critical component of the application process, required detailed environmental data and actionable reduction strategies.
Lawmed have also had specific climate change related questions on various tenders from the NHS. These questions are often complex and difficult to understand.
Approach
To address these challenges, we deployed our innovative AI-powered technology to meticulously extract and analyse data from Lawmed's financial and operational records. This technology enabled us to calculate their carbon footprint with precision, identifying key areas where emissions were concentrated.
Based on these findings, we crafted a draft CRP tailored to Lawmed's specific operations. The CRP outlined actionable strategies for reducing their carbon emissions, aligning with the NHS’s sustainability targets. Our team also assisted in completing the Evergreen Assessment, ensuring that Lawmed's application was thorough and met all necessary requirements.
