Summary
Necessity Supplies Limited (NSL) has strong connections to the NHS which represents one of their biggest clients. With the rapid expansion of the NHS's sustainable procurement policy, NSL needed to submit a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) with their application.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the decision to apply for a specific NHS framework meant it was necessary to produce a CRP and complete the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment in a very short timeframe.
C Free were able to successfully assist in complying with this incredibly short deadline assisting with the entire process from data collection to assessment submission.
Challenge
NSL needed to submit their CRP and complete their Evergreen Assessment in order to apply for an NHS tender. As they had not done this before, they needed both a complete carbon footprint calculation of their scope 1, scope 2, and required subset of scope 3, and guidance with the carbon-related Evergreen Assessment questions.
All of this had to be completed within a short timeframe including extensive data collection, data processing, calculations, quality checks, and report writing.
Approach
By working closely with NSL, C Free identified key information sources that we needed to calculate NSL's carbon footprint. We extracted these information sources and, using our data processing capacity, converted them into a format processable by our software.
We then used this information to rapidly generate NSL's carbon footprint in line with the CRP reporting guidelines. Leveraging our results database, we efficiently populated the CRP draft and seamlessly integrated the data into an interactive dashboard.
This allowed NSL to easily understand and engage with their carbon footprint, enabling them to address questions and make informed decisions about their emissions.
Finally, using the knowledge we had gained and our experience in the sector, we met with NSL and went through the Evergreen Assessment, assisting them in completing the technical questions accurately and confidently.
Results
By working closely together, we were able to produce a fully compliant carbon footprint calculation. We produced a carbon dashboard for them to interact with and understand their emissions. We also supplied a GHG-Protocol aligned emissions report. This gives the official details of the calculation to ensure compliance and comparability. With this we supplied their draft CRP with proposal measures for reducing their carbon footprint. These measures were approved by the client.
Finally, we were able to assist them on a call in submitting their Evergreen assessment which they were able to submit the very next day.
Outcomes and Impact
NSL successfully met their application deadline with all the documents necessary. They will achieve a level 1 on their Evergreen Assessment and a pass on their CRP successfully achieving an acceptable score and enabling their future continued work with the NHS.
